Work experience: Charlotte's view

We recently provided work experience placements to two local students. Here, Charlotte Chisholm tells us what she learned and liked most about the week...

Why did you choose Nice Network? What made the company stand out?

My friend’s Mum recommended the company to me as she knew someone who worked there and thought it would be a great place to go.

What did you enjoy most about your experience?

Learning more about the different parts of the business and how all of the different jobs combine to make up Nice Network.

A Nice Network-branded advert produced by Charlotte and Kate as part of their work experience placements.

What tasks did you undertake as part of your placement?

We made a PowerPoint presentation which was designed using the company’s branding, sent a message to Vodafone and learned all about the different jobs within the business.

Have you developed any new skills?

Yes, I have learned how to deal with customers the right way and also how the different computers and software work.

What lessons have you taken away from the experience?

How to always send emails politely.

Did anything about the office environment surprise you? Or was it as you expected?

I didn’t think everyone would be as friendly as they were, it was great.

Has the placement made you think differently about working in a corporate environment?

It’s a much better atmosphere than I first thought.

Finally, if you could give one bit of advice to someone about to go on their first works experience placement, what would it be?

Don’t be too nervous and listen carefully to all of the advice you’re given by the staff.
